W.J. Andrews Memorial Arena
Dedicated to the memory of the late Wallace Andrews (1943–2013)
Wallace was a retired pastor who made Smith’s Harbour his home in March 2006 after meeting and marrying Marilyn Prowse. His deep love for the community was evident—he attended and recorded local events, preserving cherished memories for all.
In 2009, under a job creation program, Wallace’s vision took shape. Sadly, on July 27, 2012, he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), and on June 27, 2013, he succumbed to this heartbreaking illness, leaving the community in mourning.
A fun-loving man with a contagious smile, great sense of humor, and a heart of pure gold, Wallace is deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
His legacy lives on through the W.J. Andrews Memorial Arena, a tribute to his enduring spirit and dedication to Smith’s Harbour.
