The Melvin Osmond Memorial Scholarship is presented annually by Smith's Harbour Local Service District through funds donated by friends and family of Melvin Osmond.Â

Awarding of this scholarship will focus on volunteer activities. The student must be a graduate of MSB Regional Academy located in Middle Arm, NL.
This scholarship will be awarded to first-year student in present program/degree.
Past recipients of this scholarship will not be eligible to receive this scholarship.
The applicant must have an average of 70% in level lll core course credits.
In determining the successful applicant, one point is awarded for each percentage over 70% average and two points for each documented involvement in community and volunteer services.
Applicants are required to write a 100-200 word essay on the importance of volunteering in the community.
The value of the scholarship will be determined by amount donated.

The four Level lll courses are academic or honors:
English
Math
World Studies
One of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Earth Systems
Deadline for application is Dec 20th. This scholarship will be awarded after students have completed the first term of a minimum two-year program and have demonstrated a passing grade in all courses and an overall average of 75%. The student must also provide evidence of registration for following term.
Applicants are required to write a 100-200 word essay on the importance of volunteering in the community.
The applicant must be a graduate of MSB Regional Academy and have attended the high school for at least three years.
A transcript of high school grades and all other relevant information must be provided with the application.
The applicant should provide a complete list of school and community activities itemized by year, as well as any awards or special recognition received.
Students who for medical reasons could not attend MSB Regional Academy are eligible to apply.
Proof of registration of attendance in a post-secondary program of at least two year duration is required.
